The Installation of a new Deputy to lead the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite (Scottish Constitution) in the Province of Victoria is a once in five-year event.In a colourful ceremony, V∴Ill∴Bro. Neil Nyholm 33° was installed as Deputy for the Province of Victoria by his predecessor, V∴Ill∴Bro. Uwe Lau 33° who has held the position since 2016. V∴Ill∴Bro. Nyholm, who joined Freemasonry in 1977, received a ‘Patent of Office’ from the Supreme Council for Scotland which is Headquartered in Edinburgh.
Over 120 people were able to attend in the Bayside Masonic Centre following the recent relaxation of the Covid restrictions. The Ceremony and Banquet were attended by V∴Ill∴Bro. Nyholm’s wife, Cynthia, their children and partners, as well as their six grandchildren ranging in age from five to eleven. Fourteen Orders of Freemasonry were represented, with Most Wor. Bro. Neville Smith, Past Grand Master representing the Grand Master. The Order of the Eastern Star was represented by Sister Sandra Davis, the Past Most Worthy Grand Matron of the United Grand Chapter of Australia.
The retiring Deputy V∴Ill∴Bro. Uwe Lau 33°, conducted the ceremony along with two Past Deputies V∴Ill∴Bro. Brian Crane 33° and V∴Ill∴Bro. David Paroissien 33°. In his Address, V∴Ill∴Bro. Nyholm said that “occasions like this provide an opportunity for family, friends and those outside the Rite to gain some appreciation of it, and to relate, if only in a small way, to the aims and practices of Freemasonry”.

Induction of Clifton Trevor Isted 32’ , immediately followed by The Installation and Investiture of Clifton Trevor Isted 33’ as Deputy for Province of South Qld – Metropolitan District, which was held at the Stones Corner Masonic Centre in Wooloongabba on 8th May 2021.

In attendance was a vast array of Administrators and Officers from the Province and Interstate guests.
The “Centenary Celebration” for Victoria Sovereign Chapter No.34 (1919 – 2019), which was held at the Bayside Masonic Centre on 2nd March 2019.
Making the special trip from Scotland to attend the ceremony, was the M∴P∴ Sovereign Grand Commander, J.M. Marcus Humphrey of Dinnet, CBE, OstJ, accompanied by M∴Ill∴ Grand Secretary General, Alexander Galbraith 33˚ . Also making trip from NSW was V∴Ill∴Bro. Ian Hogan (Past Deputy for the Province of New South Wales) The celebrations marked an epoch in the history of Scottish Rite in Victoria, 100 years of life and may it continue to grow.

After a couple of months planning, we are delighted to announce the launch of our newly designed website. We wanted a new website to be a central place where freemasons Australia wide can seek to join the Scottish Rite and to show what is beyond the first three degrees. We look forward to regularly updating the website with photos of installations Sovereign Chapters and Councils and Associated ceremonies of the Scottish Rite.
